As a part of our work to make the Memphis Area a better place to bike and walk for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, the Memphis Hightailers wants to make sure that voters in our community have the opportunity to hear from candidates for local elected offices about issues related to active transportation.
Looking forward to the 2023 City of Memphis Elections, we sent a survey to all candidates for Memphis City Council and Mayor of Memphis. We encourage you to read the responses, and make your voice heard by voting!
A few quick notes about the candidate survey:
- All candidates for Memphis City Council and Mayor of Memphis in the 2023 City of Memphis Election were given the opportunity to respond to this survey. The responses from all candidates who submitted a response will be published here on September 8th.
- Candidate survey responses are organized by the candidate and by the office, allowing for both in-depth review of a particular candidate’s responses and comparison between responses of multiple candidates running for the same office.
- Questions appear exactly as they were given to candidates, and responses appear exactly as they were submitted. In the interest of fairness and transparency, responses have not been edited at all. If a candidate did not respond to a question on the survey, the response is listed as “Candidate did not respond.”
- As a 501(c)4 nonprofit organization, Memphis Hightailers Bicycle Club will not endorse any candidates. The candidate survey is intended to help voters make informed choices about important issues, not to indicate support for any particular candidate.
