VOTE.jpg
For 2023 the Memphis Hightailers Bicycle Club has sent a list of questions to City of Memphis Candidates running for Mayor and City Council. These questions are aimed to see which candidates are in favor of bicycle infrastructure and safety.    We will post all responses to questions as received and score each candidate based on how they reply to assist with your voting.

Your vote can help change the direction of bicycle policies and infrastructure in the City of Memphis making Memphis, TN a safer place to cycle.

Here is a sample of the questions being sent out.

Our plan is to replicate this for Germantown, Collierville, and other local municipalities as the opportunity arises.

Candidate Survey

As a part of our work to make the Memphis Area a better place to bike and walk for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, the Memphis Hightailers wants to make sure that voters in our community have the opportunity to hear from candidates for local elected offices about issues related to active transportation.

Looking forward to the 2023 City of Memphis Elections, we sent a survey to all candidates for Memphis City Council and Mayor of Memphis. We encourage you to read the responses, and make your voice heard by voting!

A few quick notes about the candidate survey:

  • All candidates for Memphis City Council and Mayor of Memphis in the 2023 City of Memphis Election were given the opportunity to respond to this survey. The responses from all candidates who submitted a response will be published here on September 8th.
  • Candidate survey responses are organized by the candidate and by the office, allowing for both in-depth review of a particular candidate’s responses and comparison between responses of multiple candidates running for the same office.
  • Questions appear exactly as they were given to candidates, and responses appear exactly as they were submitted. In the interest of fairness and transparency, responses have not been edited at all. If a candidate did not respond to a question on the survey, the response is listed as “Candidate did not respond.”
  • As a 501(c)4 nonprofit organization, Memphis Hightailers Bicycle Club will not endorse any candidates. The candidate survey is intended to help voters make informed choices about important issues, not to indicate support for any particular candidate.
