UMCA Year-Rounder

2013 UMCA Year Rouders
Author Last Post
That was quick! I wrote to them, and got this reply from John:

"You don't need to apply for the Larry Schwartz Award. Those entitled will be recognized, and will be sent an award (mid-spring, usually, when all the UMCA awards are sent out). My only advice is for riders to double check their standings to be sure all their rides are included. The "pending" status is not a cause for concern.

Hope that helps!"

We don't stop playing when we get old...we get old when we stop playing.

I was just starting to wonder the same thing.  That is one award I want to make SURE that I receive!  Let us know what you find out!

Has anybody actually appliled for the award/medal yet?  My December ride is still showing up as "pending," but I was wondering if anybody knows how or where to send for the award/medal?   I will probably write an email to the UMCA and ask, and I will post whatever they reply to this thread.

We don't stop playing when we get old...we get old when we stop playing.

I can probably claim the tail end of the group, meaning the one who just squeaked by with the minimum required rides and mileage.  I wish the 2013 group much success.  One year of this was enough for me!

The Hightailer Christmas Century is complete. On Saturday, Dec. 22, there
were 2 riders, Neil Anderson and Bill Ramia. It was a long day in the
saddle, starting at about freezing and ending in the low 50's, but we each
finished the year with (at least) one century ride in each month. This last
ride was 103 miles. Neil ended up with 19 century rides this year, and Bill
ended up with 17. Not bad, huh?! On behalf of everyone who participated
and completed the goal, I want to say congratulations.

Thanks to Barry Smith for getting this started, and to Neil for keeping
things going. I think the top Hightailer I can identify in the overall
standings was Bill Baggett with 32 rides for the year, but if anyone has
more than that, let us know. We were quite a crowd out there this year, I'm
thinking.

(Just FYI, the top guy in the country currently has 168 century rides this
year. I'm not sure what he does other than ride his bike, but I am
impressed.)

Neil: "My new year's resolution is to not be an organizer of anything"

I don't this one will last very long. ;)

We don't stop playing when we get old...we get old when we stop playing.
My new year's resolution is to not be an organizer of anything, but I'd go
to a meeting if anyone else wanted to take charge.

With 2012 almost over I am sure you want to start getting the word out about the 2013 UMCA Year Rounders.

Who wants to get this rolling?

Do you want to organize a meeting?

We can put something in the MHBC Newsletter.
