Club Events and News
Despite theless than ideal temps, we have a lot of special rides coming up. Check the ClubCalendar for details on the Burn the Turkey Ride, Jingle Bell Ride, andPolar Bear Ride.
Here’s the next upcoming special clubride:
Got guilt about overeating? Burn the Turkey—and burn off the beer and the pumpkin pie,and the beer, and the dressing, and the beer, and the cranberry sauce, and thebeer… This is a chance to get out and burn some of those excess calories and toeat something other than leftovers.
Burn the Turkey Saturday November 28th. 10 AM
Location: Meeman-Shelby Forest StatePark
Distance: 40 and 60 mi options
This annual club ride is afavorite! This is a free club ride for members only. Youcan join or renew online. There will be an option to stop for lunch at GiltEdge Café near the halfway point. The ride will have rolling mechanic support.
The last few years the ride hasstarted off in either mist or sleet, but ended up a perfect day for aride. The ride stops at the half-waypoint at the Gilt Edge Cafe where riders can get some great BBQ or a"fresh not frozen" hamburger. Those not wishing to go the entire 60 miles study the map and pick a turnaroundpoint that will allow you to get your desired mileage.

Councilman Shea Flinn hosted Kyle Wagenschutz (RevolutionsCommunity Bicycle Shop), John Paul Shaffer (Revolutions Community BicycleShop), and John Cameron (Deputy City Engineer) as his Neighbortalk guests onThursday, November 19, 2009 at 7:00pm. They were scheduled to discuss cyclingbenefits, wants and needs of Memphis cyclists and the city’s bike plan. Neighbortalk is a live call-in show on thelibrary’s Channel 18.

Revolutions Bicycle Safety in the Streets Saturday,November 21, 2009 from 10:00am-12:00pm.
Revolutionswill be hosting a Bicycle Safety Class this Saturday, November 21, 2009 from10:00am-12:00pm. Come spend a couplehours fellow bike enthusiasts as we discuss general safety guidelines, specificregulations regarding riding bicycles in Memphis, and overall strategies forgetting from point a to point B as safe as possible. This class is always one of the mostinteresting classes we teach. Feel freeto bring your questions ready.

Info: ShouldI ride with traffic or against it? Should I ride on the sidewalk? Can I take aleft hand turn in traffic on my bike? Is it even legal to ride in the road? Howcan I safely navigate Memphis’ city streets? Answers to all these questions and basic street safety procedures willbe covered in this workshop.
The classwill be free and open to the public. Noreservation is necessary. Hope to seeyou there!

WeeklyHightailer Rides
The SuperloMorning Rides: Saturday & Sunday Morning 9 am MapLink
The weeklySaturday & Sunday morning rides will leave from the parking lot in front ofSuper Lo on Southern between Perkins and Colonial. The rides usually travelbetween 25-30 miles. Avg. speeds range from 12 to 18 or so mph.Saturday's group is usually larger and often has a wide variety of riders frombeginner to advanced. Sunday is generally smaller and a bit more relaxed ingeneral. The rides have rest stops at grocery or convenience stores near themidpoint.

SaturdayMorning Vic's Ride-- Lakeland Outlet Mall on Canada Road and I-40.
The ridestarts at 8 AM. We average 16-18, with rest stops every 12-15 miles.

Are you asaint who went to church on Sunday morning? Or are you a sinner who partied toomuch and just woke up on Sunday afternoon? Either way, this is the ride foryou. Not for beginners, though.
